SAMPLE ITINERARY

This trip can really be anything you want it to be. The guides at Brazda's Fly Fishing are extremely knowledgeable about the rivers of the Olympic Peninsula and very familiar with all aspects of Steelhead fishing.

Olympic Peninsula Steelhead

If you are interested in swinging for steelhead, the guides will help you improve your cast and fish more effectively. If you are interested in catching a few fish with skills you already have, nymphing is a great way to do this. The guides will help us rig up our rods for each river and daily conditions. If you don't have gear and don't want to invest in new rods, reels and lines, all of this can be provided at no extra cost. Check out the Recommended Gear page for more information on equipment. Below is the basic itinerary for our January trip.

DAY 1 : JANUARY 28
Arrive at Wild Duc Lodge around 4PM. Have a drink on the patio, settle into our rooms, then enjoy a delicious dinner prepared by the Lodge chef. If you are interested in learning more about tying and rigging steelhead flies, we'll do a short demonstration in the tying room.

DAY 2 & 3 : JANUARY 29, 30
We'll wake up at agreed-upon time (typically around 7AM) and enjoy a full breakfast with lots of strong coffee. Wader up, pair up with guides, and load up rods and gear into our guides' rigs. Take off for the river. Fish all morning, take a break for lunch, and fish our way into the evening. Dinner with the guides, and relaxation time before settling in for the night.

DAY 4 : JANUARY 31
Another day of fishing, with breakfast and lunch. Departure after fishing.

Staying at the Wild Duc Lodge and fishing with Brazda's Fly Fishing is a unique and authentic experience. The lodge is private, colorful, and well-equipped. Jeff Brazda, the guides and the chef stay at the lodge during Steelhead season, joining guests for meals and conversation.

Jeff Brazda has been guiding on the Olympic Peninsula for over 20 years. He and his crew have developed an intimate knowledge of Washington's coastal rivers, and they're very good at finding steelhead, no matter the weather or the conditions. This, combined with the short season for Wild Steelhead, means that the lodge is full and operating nearly every day from the end of January through the end of April.
